You were recently brought to my attention a couple of weeks ago when Annalie Killian introduced us to each other via e-mail. In reading your latest blog post on business models, I wanted to express my deepest appreciation for the several distinctions you made.

Your post challenged my thinking about the work I’m doing. Several significant insights came to mind. But for the moment I want to concentrate on exploring how to actualize your business model distinctions in more companies.

Since culture eats strategy for lunch, it seems to me that your distinctions for increasing the value to customers can be better achieved by using self-managing and self-organizing cultures as represented by Valve Software, W. L. Gore and Semco.

I studied many of these self-managing models around the world over the last few years. Even though these cultures are not based on the nature of exponential technologies, they do offer a series of principles and practices that are an entry point to more fully addressing the successful adoption and execution of your distinctions.

Very nice explanation based on these three transformations. I was wondering how do they relate to the decreasing ROA since 1965. My own vision is that existing assets are trapped under "old" business models and thus cannot unleash their true potential contribution to the creation of value expressed as: usage / impact; prediction / prescription; platform / universal. ?

A lucidly presented and coherent set of implications from the Edge as they impact business models-- many I have been waiting for years to become mainstream. But what of political models? We seem to be on a path of devolution in that regard. Too much access to misinformation, perhaps?
